Celebrating 50 years in 2019, this eagerly awaited, free open-air event is set to usher in the summer and the beginning of the festive season, with a star-studded line-up including performances by Sho Madjozi, Ndlovu Youth Choir, YoungstaCPT and more.
Easily the biggest event of its kind in Cape Town, and certainly one of the most enjoyable, the Festive Lights Switch-On appeals to locals and visitors to the city alike. SPCA Wiggle Waggle Walkathon 2019
It is with great excitement that the SPCA announce that it’s almost time for their favourite event of the year – the Cape of Good Hope SPCA Wiggle Waggle Walkathon!
The date and venue for this year’s SPCA Wiggle Waggle Walkathon is on Sunday 1st December 2019 at the Academy for Math, Science and Technology. The SPCA Wiggle Waggle Walkathon is a hugely popular walk for dogs and their owners which creates a high public profile and raises the much-needed funds for the Cape of Good Hope SPCA. It is also one of the most successful, family fun events in Cape Town. Our aim this year is to have approximately 1 000 canines and 1 500 humans taking part.

Killarney hosts the biggest Motor Show in the Western Cape
Ladies and Gentlemen, start your engines! - For the 2019 Killarney Motor Show powered by Kfm 94.5 at the home of motorsport in the Western Cape on Sunday 8 December.
The biggest motor show in the Western Cape will be open to the public from 10am to 5pm. Book through Computicket at or pay at the gate.
It is perhaps the most evocative of its kind in the Western Cape, bringing together as it does the exquisite craftsmanship of the vehicles of the past, the sleek automotive offerings of the early 21st century and the myriad ways they can be customised to reflect their owners' personality, as well as a glimpse into the future of motoring.
For the fourth annual Killarney Motor Show they are taking the revs up again with close to 1300 vehicles on show and more than 100 stalls selling just about anything you can think of for your car - and your tummy, with a huge variety of watering holes serving ice-cold drinks, sit-down eateries and takeaway vendors!
There's a new, more accessible layout, an entirely new category of exhibitors and fascinating new displays to delight spectators and keep them at the show all day, including live music and a fun fair in the pits paddock offering exciting rides for children of all ages.
For the first time the show will feature no less than four active circuits, starting with the Tar Oval, where the Cape Hell Drivers will be in action all day. Next door to that is the Arena section; as its name suggests, that's where you'll experience non-stop entertainment including stunts, drifting, burnouts, classic motorcycle and even vintage tractor parades and tug-o-war contests.
There will be public karting on the one-kilometre 'K' circuit, to give you a real taste of how Formula One greats Michael Schumacher, Lewis Hamilton and Ayrton Senna started their racing careers, while the new car dealers have their own dedicated test drive circuit for the first time, offering test drives on the latest models all day - including electric cars, another first for the Killarney Motor Show.
Trials expert and Dakar Rally hero Kobus Potgieter will show us how to ride over all sorts of natural obstacles, while international stunt stars the Le Riche brothers will amaze you with impossible stunts on two wheels, including riding almost four metres straight up the side of a truck – we've seen it before and we still don't know how they do it!
In addition, the new car dealers will have their own dedicated test drive circuit for the first time, a one-kilometre loop around the banking on Fastron Corner and through the drag-strip paddock, offering test drives on the latest models all day – including electric cars, another first for the Killarney Motor Show.
There will also be public karting on the newly resurfaced “K” circuit, a demanding layout featuring 14 turns in just one kilometre, to give you a real taste of how Formula One greats Michael Schumacher, Lewis Hamilton and Ayrton Senna started their racing careers.
After dipping a toe into the water in 2018 with an area devoted to dual-purpose biking, the Adventure City concept goes (literally) wild this year with a comprehensive display of off-road machinery on two and four wheels, off-road trailers, camping gear, tents and accessories – everything you need for your next safari.
The static displays at the 2019 Killarney Motor Show will encompass some one thousand vehicles, ranging from classic, custom and brand-new motorcycles to massive eighteen-wheeler trucks.
Pride of place on the main straight, however, goes to the Streetcar Show, featuring cars of all types and sizes, customised inside and out and modified as only the Mother City's petrolheads can do it, into 'hot rods', 'stance cars' lowered to within centimetres of the road and American-style muscle-cars.
The Crankhandle Club will display a magnificent collection of classic cars from 1902 (no, we're not kidding) to the 1970s in the covered pits, while the Cape Multi-MotorClub brings together hundreds of exotics bearing names such as Porsche, Jaguar and Alfa Romeo in the paddock behind the Clubhouse.
You'll also see restored family cars that you can point out to your children, saying, “My grandfather had one of those” - because nothing teaches automotive history to the next generation of petrolheads like getting up close and personal with historic vehicles, taking in their gleaming chrome and the smell of leather polish.
The entire sweep of Kfm Corner is dedicated to lovingly restored classic motorcycles from the 1950s to the 1980s, with dealers' stands displaying the latest models and incredible custom machinery from the finest workshops in the Western Cape in the pits paddock.
And that's what the Killarney Motor Show is all about: it's all for real. Nearly all the vehicles on display, old and new, arrive on their own wheels, the stunts are genuine, the racing on the Half-Main circuit is for real.
You can drive many of the new models on display yourself, on the new 'dealer test circuit', marvel at the sheer size of the trucks that populate our national roads (all the trucks on display are working vehicles). The one thing you won't find at the Killarney Motor Show is anything virtual or simulated.

SPAR Carols By Candlelight with Jacaranda FM
The annual SPAR Carols by Candlelight with Jacaranda FM sees thousands flock to its Johannesburg and Pretoria events each year – drawing a massive crowd of families from all over Gauteng and neighbouring provinces to bring their picnic gear and share in the festive cheer.
In 2019, it will feature Tarryn Lamb, Jo Black, Lira, Matthew Mole, Riana Nel, Rubber Duc, Early B, Roan Ash, Paxton, Joshua na die Reën, Swing City and the multi-award-winning Soweto Gospel Choir – kicking off the festive season in style! It’s an event for a great cause – collecting toys for little ones in need and raising funds for Jacaranda FM’s Good Morning Angels.
The Jacaranda FM presenters – including, amongst many others, Martin Bester, Liesl Laurie, Elma Smit, Elana Afrika-Bredenkamp, Rozanne McKenzie, Alex Jay and Rian van Heerden - will also be celebrating in full festive force, with the station broadcasting live from both events.
Tarryn Lamb, Roan Ash, Swing City and the Soweto Gospel Choir will be performing at both events, with Matthew Mole, Lira, Rubber Duc and Paxton completing the line-up in Joburg and Jo Black, Riana Nel, Joshua na die Reën and Early B spreading the festive cheer in Pretoria.
The kiddies’ entertainment area, proudly provided by headline sponsors SPAR, will have the little ones thoroughly entertained with jumping castles, face-painters, games, crafts, buskers, movies and more! Entry is free, but in spreading the love to where it is needed most, attendees are encouraged to bring a toy which will be delivered to selected charity organisations.

Jozi's most OUTRAGEOUS Xmas Pub crawl is back for its third year in 2019 & it's going to be bigger and better than ever before!
What is the 12 Pubs of Xmas? Well, it is a pub crawl that originates in Ireland where people don the most outrageous Christmas outfits (accessories), trek between a total of 12, yes 12 different pubs in the area (In this case the 1 Fox Precinct), buying AND drinking a beverage in each.
To make matters worse there are strict, complicated and unnecessary rules that you must abide by upon visiting each pub, which, believe it or not your drunk friends will still find a way to enforce.

Tree of Light - Tribute to lost loved ones
A unique and touching evening in tribute to loved ones lost too soon. Come and picnic with us as we light up this iconic tree in honour of those lost to us.
Since 1992 Highway Hospice have been holding this unique ceremony in Durban. The ceremony will be taking place in Jameson Park (opposite Mitchell Park) on Friday 6th December and they would love for you to join in on this beautiful and touching ceremony.
It is a time to remember loved ones who are no longer with us. It starts at 6pm with music with a Christmas theme supplied by the dedicated volunteer musicians.
There will be food stalls but you are welcome to bring a picnic basket along, as well as a blanket and don’t forget your umbrella in case it rains – they will have a couple of tents up for shelter just in case.
Attendees are asked to buy a candle and light it on the night. The actual lighting of the tree takes place at 7.45pm (weather permitting) when over 9,000 globes light up with a soft radiance. The tree will shine throughout December.

Jakaranda Children's Home, is registered as a non-profit organisation (183-619NPO). They care for 200 children and provide them with therapy, medical care and a lovely home, where they can feel safe and loved. It is their goal to provide them with the necessary skills they will need to become responsible adults.
In an effort to become more sustainable the home host successful fundraising events. The biggest annual event is the Liggiefees (Light Festival). From 1 to 31 December 2019, for the 10th consecutive year, visitors will be able to experience a magical display of the most beautiful Christmas lights.
Visitors come and admire millions of Christmas lights every evening between 18h00 22h00 and also to support the various food and market stalls. Children can also get ready for exciting activities in the carnival area. They attract between 60 000 to 75 000 feet to this event each year.

SPAR Carols By Candlelight with Jacaranda FM
he annual SPAR Carols by Candlelight with Jacaranda FM sees thousands flock to its Johannesburg and Pretoria events each year – drawing a massive crowd of families from all over Gauteng and neighbouring provinces to bring their picnic gear and share in the festive cheer.
In 2019, it will feature Tarryn Lamb, Jo Black, Lira, Matthew Mole, Riana Nel, Rubber Duc, Early B, Roan Ash, Paxton, Joshua na die Reën, Swing City and the multi-award-winning Soweto Gospel Choir – kicking off the festive season in style! It’s an event for a great cause – collecting toys for little ones in need and raising funds for Jacaranda FM’s Good Morning Angels.
Tarryn Lamb, Roan Ash, Swing City and the Soweto Gospel Choir will be performing at both events, with Matthew Mole, Lira, Rubber Duc and Paxton completing the line-up in Joburg and Jo Black, Riana Nel, Joshua na die Reën and Early B spreading the festive cheer in Pretoria.
The Jacaranda FM presenters – including, amongst many others, Martin Bester, Liesl Laurie, Elma Smit, Elana Afrika-Bredenkamp, Rozanne McKenzie, Alex Jay and Rian van Heerden - will also be celebrating in full festive force, with the station broadcasting live from both events.
The kiddies’ entertainment area, proudly provided by headline sponsors SPAR, will have the little ones thoroughly entertained with jumping castles, face-painters, games, crafts, buskers, movies and more! Entry is free, but in spreading the love to where it is needed most, attendees are encouraged to bring a toy which will be delivered to selected charity organisations. Candles will also be on sale at R30, songbooks at R10 and a songbook and candle bundle package at R35. All proceeds will go to Jacaranda FM Good Morning Angels. Gates at both events will open at 16h00 and the programme will officially kick-off at 19h00 – 21h00.
